And The Winner Is....

I think the winner is well deserving. Thank You Jimmy Kimmel for making us all more aware of the great videos that are out there on YouTube.

Mockingjay

Mockingjay is the last book in the Hunger Game trilogy.   Suzanne Collins has done it again with this book.  If you have enjoyed the previous two books, Mockingjay does not disappoint.  The last book is filled with much bravery and suspense.

The book begins where Catching Fire leaves off.  Katniss has been transported out of the arena and to District 13, which has turned out to be an underground city.  Once, Katniss has awaken she learns that rebellions against the Capitol have sprung up in the majority of the districts after she shot the arrow into the force field.  It turns out that there has been a lot of planning and everyone seemed to know something, except for Katniss and Peeta (Peeta has been captured by the Capitol).  The leaders of the rebellion wants Katniss to become the Mockingjay, the face of the rebels; a leader.  Katniss has an influence on the people, an influence that can change the way things are.  But we find Katniss struggling over whether or not to become the Mockingjay.  She weighs what could happen if she becomes the Mockingjay and what could happen if she doesn't.  She puts much thought into this decsion and goes back and forth as to what she is going to do.  When Katniss learns of all the sacrifices that have been made for her, she accepts the role of the Mockingjay.  I don't want to give away too much more.  If you want to know what happens check out the Mockingjay Wikipedia article.  What follows Katniss' decision to be the Mockingjay is war, loss, triumph, death, and love.

With Mockingjay being the final book, I wanted to reflect on what makes this trilogy so great.  It is Katniss that draws the reader to the story.  As she narrates the story we see everything through her eyes.  As the reader we are able to see things about Katniss that she does not see about herself.  What makes Katniss so likable and admirable, is how strong, brave, and self-less she is.  She really is all of these things without really knowing it.  She's confident yet not confident in herself and her abilities.  She doubts and questions herself and her decisions and intentions.  And she is ever so loyal about keeping her word.  She is very smart too.  Too keep her real though, she is comfortable being who she is and being looked up to.

I must admit, Mockingjay was not my favorite book of the series.  It had a very different feeling to it compared to the first two books.  The focus somewhat shifts to a different storyline.  It was still a good read and worth reading if you've read the first two.  My favorite part of this book was the last chapter when Katniss realizes what she needs in life to survive.

In case you were wondering, Catching Fire, in my opinion is the best book of the trilogy.

Catching Fire

Catching Fire is the second book of The Hunger Games series.  Much like the first book this book draws its readers in the world known as Panem.  It brings about the same raw emotions that The Hunger Games brought.  The imagery is so strong that you really can place yourself with the characters.  In Catching Fire the reader sees what life is like for Katniss following Peeta and her's victory in the hunger games.  There are many repercussions to her actions in the games and uprisings and rebellions begin because of Katniss' actions.  The Capitol is threatening Katniss and the ones she loves.  Katniss really struggles with her new life.  There is the triangle that between Katniss, Peeta and Gale.  As she tries to sort out her feelings something happens that changes everything.  Every 25 years the Capitol holds the Quarter Quell, which is basically another hunger games, but with different rules.  For the 75th Quarter Quell to competitors are a male and female victor from each district.  Katniss along with Peeta find themselves in the arena again, but this time with an alliance.  At the end Katniss is in District 13, a place that isn't suppose to exist, and Peeta has been captured by the Capitol along with another member of her alliance.  And District 12 has been destroyed.

Catching Fire was just as interesting and intense as The Hunger Games.  I really enjoyed it as the story takes you through another journey.  This book does what few do and really pulls at your emotions.  It isn't very often that I cry reading a book.  Yet, this series has managed to do just that in both of the books.  The themes of this book and series really make you think.  You can identify with the situation as we all at one point have to make important decisions in life.  We ask ourselves how much are we willing to sacrifice to save the ones we love.  How selfless or selfish are we?  Katniss has to decide whether or not to run or stand up and face the Capitol.  Once again we find Katniss willing to sacrifice her life for someone else.  Katniss is a leader and a fighter, but like in real life, it takes time for her to realize her full potential and who she really is.  There is something special about her that only others can see.  Just like in life, we must embrace who we are.  We can try to run, but reality will always find us no matter how hard we try to run.

Visit California - Misconceptions

This week California began airing the "Visit California" tourism ads again.  Once again they are poking fun at the misconceptions that so many people have about Cali.  They haven't done one in several years, but I am just as stumped as before as to why they air them in California.  They tell the audience to get out here, but what if we are already here.  When you live a state, you don't really visit it, it's more like you travel it.  Obviously living in CA I have no misconceptions.  Everyone does not drive a convertible because the weather is not always sunny and not always covertible weather.  On a typical day, you can't expect to see celebrites roaming the streets of CA.  They aren't everywere you go and the chances you seeing one on the street, are pretty slim, that is unless you hang out at the right spots.  That's right, don't expect to go to the beach and see Jason Mraz strumming his guitar.  However, Disneyland is that amazing, even without the Jonas Brothers.  It would be really hard for everyone to be surfer seeing that the entire population does not live at the beach.  I do get a kick out of them because really where do people get these misconceptions.  There is one problem with this, telling people to visit CA will not rid us of this misconceptions.  Because where do people want to visit in CA?  The places that have exactly these things.  And aren't these misconceptions what bring people to California?  Really none of this matters because they are showing the commercial to the people of the state.  That is something I really just don't get.  Read more to check out the latest ad.

The Hunger Games

With all the buzz surrounding the book trilogy, The Hunger Games, espcially with the recent release of the last installment of the triology, Mockingjay, I finally decided to pick up the first book to read.  I am really glad that I did.  I instantly became hooked to this book.  The themes in the story are thought provoking and emotions run strong through out the book.  There was one point that I found my eyes tearing up.  The plot, the issues, the characters, everything really drew me into the book.  The use of imagery allows the reader to be right there with the characters and able to see/imagine from the characters point of view.  I absolutely love this book and I believe gives the Twilight Saga some real competition.   Read more to learn a little more about the book.

Blog Make Over

Considering the number of posts I have dedicated purely to Matt Lanter I decided it was time to create a page dedicated to Matt.  This way my home page will no longer be overtaken by Matt and the other posts will have a better chance of being seen.  Because believe it or not, I do care about other things than Matt  (gasps). Yes, I love Matt enough that I felt he deserved his own space.  Plus, I like organization and categorizing things.

Do You Have Lanteritis?

What is Lanteritis?  Glad you ask.  It is what I would like to describe as those who are devoted Matt Lanter fans.  Think the whole Bieber Fever phenomenon, but replace it with the much better looking Matt Lanter.  These are the fans who follow his twitter, career, and always know what's going on with Matt.  They are devoted Matt Fans.

Check here if you have the symptoms:  Do you randomly get into "Matt Fests" on twitter, lust after him, dream about him, crush on him?  Are you just a little crazy about him?  Does he have the ability to reduce you to sounding like a teenage girl when you are not one?  To simply put it, do love Matt Lanter and cannot get enough of him?  If you answered yes to one or more of any of the previous questions, you may have Lanteritis.
There is no need to worry if you are suffering from Lanteritis, we understand, we love Matt too.  You can live a perfectly healthy life as long as you don't let your symptoms get too out of control.  After all, we don't want to scare Matt away.

There is no name yet for those who suffer from having Lanteritis, but we are working on that.  If you have any suggestions leave them here:  For the Fans of Matt Lanter.  We are hoping to spread the awareness of Lanteritis and make people more aware of the AMAZING Matt Lanter.  Do you have Lanteritis?  To ease your suffering with Lanteritis I would prescribe watching Matt on 90210 Monday Nights on the CW @ 8pm and following Matt on twitter @MattLanter.

Evolution of Facebook

On Friday the movie The Social Network was released into theaters.  I haven't seen the movie yet, but seeing all the promotion for the movies has forced me to take a trip down memory lane.  Facebook was launched in 2005, I remember this clearly.  When it first launched it was for college students only.  There was a lot of buzz about Facebook when it first started.  I remember asking what is Facebook and being told that it was like Myspace, but better.  The word of Facebook spread from one campus to another through friends who had one.  There were a couple of requirements as well.  One, you had to have a school email and two, your school had to have a network created by the site on it.

Man Hunt

Today while at my cousins' soccer game, my uncle suggested I should meet this guy.  His exact words were "Someday this guy will make a lot of money."  My reaction, "Someday???"  Yes, someday because he is a bioengineer major at UC Davis.  While this guy does meet the education standard, things could go either way in other ways.  I'm sure he's not terrible looking, otherwise my uncle would never suggest it, but I'm sure he's no Matt Lanter either.  I could live with that though as long as I was attracted to him.  The only problem I have with this whole thing is, I don't know what degree he is working on.  If he's still working on his bachelors it would be quite some time before he would be actually done with school.  Bioengineering is not one of the degrees where you get just a bachelors.  Though I keep thinking could be my opportunity meet a guy who has excellent potential.  His career choice would allow me to follow my passion and money not be an issue.  The only problem is I really didn't sound that interested at the time when he suggested it.  Then again, it's hard to be interested in a guy when you have no clue who he is or what he is like.  I am looking and I am willing to be set up, I just don't know if I want it to be by my uncle...

Mattaholic

In case you haven't noticed, a large portion of my blog is about Matt Lanter. But is called Brittany's Musings and many of my thoughts are about Matt Lanter. Yes, I am a Mattaholic and proud to be one. There are a number of reasons why I love Matt Lanter. The list could go on and on, but really it's hard to put into words what it is about his guy that makes him so great. If you read any of his interviews or follow him on twitter (@MattLanter) I think you could get what I mean. He's just a really great guy, and funny. Matt makes me really just want to hang out with him. I think he's such a cool, down to earth guy. I just want to be friends with him. He is the type of guy that every girl is looking to marry. I hope to someday find my own Matt Lanter...that is if I can't have the real thing...lol

Picture Perfect

There is just some pictures that you are drawn to. It says a lot about the photographer and the model. When I saw this picture I was instantly taken by it.  Automatically you are drawn to the face, clearly the focal point of the picture.  It's not because it is Matt Lanter either.  The contrast between light and dark really makes the object in the foreground pops out from the background.  The expression on the model's face is deep.  It makes you stop wonder what he is thinking. It's almost as if you can look into his eyes and see his soul.  The way the light highlights the top of his hair makes the picture interesting.  That's just it, it's a simple picture yet is so interesting and expresses so much.  This is an incredible piece of art, regardless of who the model is. Elias Tahan is simply brilliant with his ability to create art like this. The fact the the piece the photo as a whole speaks louder than the model reflects this man's talent.  I really love this photograph.  It's pure genius.

90210 - The Bachelors Preview

Who would you like to bid on? How much would you be willing to bid? Personally, I'm all about Mr. Matt Lanter and I would be willing to blow a large chunk of my savings. Is it just mean or did Liam go for cheap, I mean I would gladly spend $350 for a date with Liam. Nothing makes for good TV like hot guys wearing firemen outfits and stripping. I for one will never complain if Matt has his shirt off. But I think we can all agree there has been a lack of Liam and that needs to change pronto!

Ummm You're A Teacher???

There seems to be a new trend among teenage dramas. Here's the set-up to the the new theme. There's a girl in a bar, a guy walks in, they have instant chemistry, they kiss, she goes to school and surprise he's the new teacher and she's a student. Yes folks, this is going on in two different shows. We all first saw it on the ABCFamily's hit summer show Pretty Little Liars and last night we saw it on the CW's Life Unexpected. When I saw that "Erik" was the new teacher at Lux's teacher, my instant reaction was they are copying Pretty Little Liars. I have a feeling we can all predict what is going to happen next on Life Unexpected especially if you've watched Pretty Little Liars. What do you think? You know it's wrong, yet you find yourself rooting for the couples. Aren't Aria and Ezra destined to be together??? Maybe this works because they didn't know who each other were before they discovered one was a student and the other a teacher. Who knows. This goes to show that there are some things that work for television that do not fly in real life. We shall just have to wait and see.

It's almost here....

Fall TV is in the air, which means the return of all of our favorite TV shows. While the summer does provide some good entertainment, they cannot compete with the Fall. College football season officially kicked off last Thursday with a win for USC against Hawaii (yay!). There was another game on, but that was the only one that matter to me. This week the CW is kicking off their new season. The shows I'm looking forward to this week: the new show Hellcats and the return of The Vampire Diaries. Monday's new line-up is also one to look forward to on the CW. 90210 has moved and airs before Gossip Girl now; a place I thought it should have been before they made that decision. Looking forward to seeing Matt Lanter back on my TV screen on a weekly bases. I just saw this clip today. Last season I was completely against Lannie (Liam and Annie), but somehow after watching this clip, they are beginning to grow on me. However, I don't think Naomi is completely out of the picture.

Another Reason Why I'm a Matt Lanter Fan

One of the people I follow on twitter posted this article about Matt. After reading this article, I'm an even bigger fan of his than I was before. This article makes him even more attractive as well. It's clear how grounded and rooted this guy is. He hasn't been corrupted or influenced by Hollywood like so many young actors have been. I think it says a lot about his family as well. This is boy was definitely raised right. He really seems like this down-to-earth kind of guy. It's like he's just a guy who happens to be on TV and a lot of people knows who he is. It seems like he separates acting and his life; acting is his job and then there is life. Just reading what his mom says he does when he comes home you get that he's a good guy. You really can see how humble he is, which is what makes him stand in a good way. If you can read people well, you know that just by watching him on interviews and reading what he says he really is a good guy. That is why I've become such a huge fan. Not only is he a great actor, he is a great guy, which is really refreshing to see.

The Kinda, Sorta, Not Really Pick-Up Line I Used on Matt Lanter

There's a woman out there who is probably as big of a Matt Lanter fan as I am, if not maybe bigger. Matt often replies to her, so out of curiosity I started randomly checking out her Twitter page. Thursday I checked it out since it was a special day and I saw that she was doing a contest giving away season 2 of 90210. To win you had to submit a pick up line you would use on Matt. She said she was going to try and get Matt to pick the winner. At first I wasn't going to do it, but figured "Why not." So I'm not going to lie, I thought about what I would post, I wanted to win regardless of who was reading them. I couldn't come up with anything good. Then for some reason I started thinking in a Star Wars frame of mind. I came up with the first one, but as I was typing it, I wasn't really feeling it. Then while I was staring at the screen a gnat landed on my screen and it just came to me; a new pick up line was born. "I'm attracted to you like a gnat to a lightsaber." I posted that line was was pretty darn satisfied with it. It was creative and funny; the two things I was aiming for. It also had the perfect cheese component that all pick-up lines must have. And completely nerdy, but it worked because it related to Matt's work.

The next day I checked Matt's Twitter page just because and this is the tweet I saw:

MattLanter: @LMWeatherford hahaha I love 17... 20 good too though!! I'll guess I'll go with 20 :)

Naturally, I was curious to see which ones were 17 and 20. I checked it out and to my surprise, #17 was my pick-up line. I checked the list a couple of times and just to make sure it was really mine that he liked and I wasn't seeing things. I was so shocked that it was even in the running; I didn't even care that I lost. Needless to say, it put a smile on my face just knowing that Matt laughed and said that he loved it. This is the closest I'll ever get to using that line, so I'll take what I can get :)

The other pick-up line I thought about using was:

I think The Force is pulling us together.

My Twilight Cast

So I know there are a lot of people who would disagree with me on this, but I would totally re-cast Edward and Bella in Breaking Dawn. I'm just really over this whole RPattz and KStew thing. And speaking of KStew, could she please learn to look into the camera when giving an interview. It is absolutely maddening to watch a girl sit in front of a camera and not look into it and fidget the whole entire interview. Who would I cast instead??? Well, some of us have already seen them playing the roles just under slightly different names and in a slightly different story....

Yes folks, I would have no problem if we changed Edward and Bella to by played by Matt Lanter and Jenn Proske. This is what I pictured Bella to look more like anyways...

Is it just me or does she slightly remind you of Taylor Swift when she did that sketch on SNL called Firelight??? With that, Taylor Swift could totally be Bella...

Emma Roberts could also make a good Bella. Basically, anyone other than KStew

You Belong With Me (live)

Happy 9.02.10 Day!

Today is a pretty special day, it's September 2, 2010 or 9-02-10 or 90210. Yes, today's date shares its numbers with a famous zip code in a little town called Beverly Hills. When the original Beverly Hills 90210 came out, I wasn't really into it. When the second generation of show came into existence I became a fan of it; okay so it wasn't until the end of the first season did I really get into it. I swear it had nothing to do with the introduction of Liam Court. It is the show that produced "teenage" heartthrobs such as Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) and Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestly) and continues to give us heartthrobs with its new generation like Liam Court (Matt Lanter) and Navid (Michael Steger). The shows have definitely had their share of love and drama, but it's what keeps us watching. Who's your favorite Beverly Hills Hottie????

Personally, I've got to go with Liam. Not just because I'm a huge Matt Lanter fan. Liam is the lovable, complicated, bad-boy, with a heart of gold deep down. He just needs someone to break down some of the walls he has built.

The Best Emmy Opening

Between the commercials for Infiniti with the cast of Community and the opening, this was a very entertaining Emmys. Though as the night progressed things got a little less funny, the show sure started with bang. I really loved the GLEE themed opening.

Mine

I love this song and I love it even more after watching the music video. I think this may have to be one of my favorite music videos ever. Taylor Swift has done it again!!!!

Day Dream Life

Life would be so much easier if you could just meet a rich guy to fall in love with and marry. Then I wouldn't have to worry about what to do with my life. I could just do what I love and money would not be an issue. In my dream life I would be a best-selling author and married to Matt Lanter, since neither one of those are going to happen, I'll settle for having a decent paying job. Now, if only I could find one...

Salvation

Matt posted this picture a while back and I tweeted about it. I still really like this image and so I thought I share it here too.

Earlier I saw post this http://yfrog.com/ndq17j. They say a picture can say a thousand words. This one stayed w/me & made me think. It's such a simple pic, but it could be interpreted to say so much. What I see is SALVATION lit up against red. And the ultimate form of salvation comes from the shedding of blood. I really read deep into the pic, but it's all in how you interpret things...

And crazily enough Matt read the tweet and responded. I wasn't even trying to get his attention. The picture just really stayed in my mind and I was trying to figure out why. Then it hit me and wanted to tweet about what I thought about it. Never did I think he would read it.

On a side note, the more that I have looked at this picture, the deeper the meaning I have gotten from it. One being that Christ is the light of the world and is the ultimate form of Salvation thus it the word SALVATION is lit up. It was through the shedding of His blood that we can be saved, thus the read.
It's the meaning that makes this picture so cool I think, at least to me.

Matt Lanter: Someone You Should Know

Matt Lanter has launched himself into the number two position of my favorite actors. Sorry Matt, James Franco still holds the number one spot. If you don't know who Matt Lanter is, then you should. And if you don't like him then maybe you haven't seen him with his shirt off enough. I mean just look at the picture above, need I say more. In the past year I've become a huge fan. Not only does this guy look amazing, he seems to be just a great guy. He's the total package. He also just so happens to be a talented actor. Comedy, action, drama, he's got them down. So I've decided to start this blog about Matt and my thoughts on him. There's more to come so stay tuned...
